What is Cross Country Croquet?
- Cross Country Croquet* is a mutation/advancement on the game you see being played in
Heathers. You might call it a blending of croquet, golf, and miniature golf. Most have played
it, in its simplest form, without even knowing it. In its most basic form, it simply means
breaking the standard course pattern used in official croquet. Not only do you want to put the
wickets in as non-geometrical an arrangement as possible, but, in fact, you want to put them in
as annoying a configuration as possible, making full use of natural obstacles. The most
important factor in a game of cross country croquet is really where you play. In our
experience the best courses can be made on extremely hilly cemeteries (blasphemy can be
overlooked for the sake of quality recreational entertainment). Once you get good at designing
your courses with absurd distances to cover, large and obnoxious obstacles to overcome, and
extreme differences in altitude to deal with, you'll find that the character of the game changes
drastically. The most extreme form of cross country croquet is a sport we've dubbed as
Around the World Cross Country Croquet*.
