COFFEE SHOP VISITS

Note:
Many coffee shops keep some of the strongest types of marijuana. Don't buy them unless you usually smoke a lot(daily smoker). This grass could make an unexpectable reaction(the shock may involve intoxication symptoms(vomit)) and you can have some very bad feelings.
So if you smoke rarely we invite you to avoid strongest types of grass. Also we suggest you to roll small joints (a bag should be ok for 10 joints or more). Below you will find our impressions from Amsterdam and from some other cities over the Netherlands.

January 2006
The Jan2006 coffee shop tour is over, at the moment seems that all of us survived and remain (in)sane ;-)
We were in Amsterdam and Hilversum, some of notes have gone with the wind, anyway below is the remaining list. This is just a part of where we were and what we smoked, we remember many places but we're not sure what we smoked there. And also in the coffee shops listed below we smoked much more but some of us are still a bit confused to remember, not to mention all the strange names some coffee shops gave to their stuff...
(Click on links for pics. We apologize for so high variation in quality of some photos, the buds on these pics were great too.)

De Leeuw White Widow, Pollen...

Well, we lost some notes but anyway we have enough memory to take a sober conclusion, also each day we saved the best stuff to retest it all together in the hotel. Most of the coffee shops we visited were o.k., we had only one really bad occurence with trash stuff.

Here are the highlights of the tour:
The best coffee shop was Homegrown Fantasy with fabolous stuff and incredibly positive and helpfull staff, just like we remember it from past years: a true reference for all coffee shops around, also The Fantasy was the best tasting grass, hats off! Don't miss Homegrown Fantaseeds seed/headshop just around the corner, top seeds and top quality hemp products. In the Pink Floyd (located in the middle of
Haarlemmerstraat) we had some good recovery-time upstairs on the round couch listening to good old Pink Floyd music, the bartenders were great and their NYC Diesel was the nicest smelling grass. Blueberry, Northern Light and Choco-lator from The Bushdocter were excellent, we had to put the Jelly Hash into the snow for 10 minutes to roll it properly, heavy stuff, and just to add a note: they had excellent orange juice, one of the best in town. Tweede Kamer offered a nice atmosphere with an eye blurring Dutch Moonshine hash(don't joke with this stuff!) and heartbreaking MK Ultra, also the other hashes were damn good. The Siberie coffee shop always had very fair relations with customers, and the grass wasn't really best looking or tasting but very very strong. Other coffee shops were somehow average. Good and spacious places for rockers are 420 Cafe and Dread Rock but we must warn you about fraud we had in Dread Rock where we ordered a bag of Jamaica and we got a stinky amoniacal clover which was a total trash and had nothing with great Jamaican grass. However Dread Rock rolls good music and have very positive and pretty bartenders, a good place to have a smoke and beer. Cheers!

In Hilversum we stopped few times in some coffee shops in the city centre:
Paradise coffee shop seems to be a shop where locals meet each other, the bartender was polite and fair, the grass and hash could be too strong for tourists. If you are in group than the best choice is to stop at De Leeuw, located in front of Central station, a rock-bar kind of coffee shop. Just across the street is the Riff, a calm friendly coffeeshop.

What to say at the bottom line? Maybe a word about a high popularity and very high prices of the Haze hybrids, almost every coffeeshop has at least one on the top of the menu but to be honest most are not very well grown and do not have enough potency. Then our opinion of the numbing ice-o-lator hash. It is really potent but overrated and we didn't like it for regular use. Of course it's a really special kind of hash and surely worth a try. Also the demand for various pollens is still high but we were disappointed because an old school properly made Zero Zero is still miles away from many of pollens we had in this tour.

Also we have to add that some well known coffeeshops were always crowded and were not left out from our report because they were not good or something, we checked few times but it was constantly full:
De Dampkring, Grey Area and Greenhouse(s). If you recently checked these shops please drop us few words about them.

August 2004
We noticed some changes on the scene. In a week of mid-august we were all over the Amsterdam to check out some very known and also some new coffeeshops. There are plenty of good coffeeshops and it's very hard to scale them just on one week test, but one thing was clear: The Greenhouse had always the best stuff. Higly recommended for every real connoseur. In turistic area of Dam we followed some italians who like to get stoned at the Paradise coffeeshop. Yes we know, nothing special there, very crowdy, high prices, White widow looked a bit crappy, but we have to admit that the stone was surprisingly strong, and yes, for an aproximate tourist who just wants to roll a joint and leave, whatever the quality is, than that coffeeshop could do the job. The Homegrown Fantasy lost some reputation because wasn't able to offer the top of the top quality grass. We hope that this was just a mid-august syndrome... A very nice coffeeshop The Bushdocter is worth a positive word. Very nice staff & stuff! Just try and let us know...
Stay tuned!

April/May 2001
Nothing new. Homegrown Fantasy is still the best, no comment. In the city of Alkmaar we should mention Natural Minds, a coffee shop with some computers and a menu not so big but very good stuff. You can stop at the camping Alkmaar, with a little bit of luck you can find a wooden cabin for 4 persons for about 20€ a day. Bring some blankets, when we woke up there was 6°C only (inside!!). Very strong grass at the Flower Power coffeeshop located in the centre of Eindhoven (visited also in '99). You may park the car at the central station, the coffee shop is not far away and opens at 9.

June 2000
Yo smokka friends! We visited over 30 coffee shops in this tour and we have to say that the Amsterdam coffee shop scene is still the same. We were bonged all the time :-)

June 2000 Tour Favorites:
-BLUE BIRD
Their hash is beautiful.
A must for all real rastas.
-HOMEGROWN FANTASY Well known place.
Their grass quality is always at the top.
-DUTCH FLOWERS It was the first visit for us. We bought the cheapest grass, the expensive one and a staff's suggested bag. Stoney. Everything is very very stoney.
-FRONTPAGE We came back several times and bought some bags of very interesting grass.
Example: Day Tripper. It's not the strongest one and it's not the most expensive but anyway worth a try. Big buds (1-2g). Nice taste, very smiley.

They should increase their grass quality coz it SUXX:
-LA CANNA
-FREE ADAM
-PARADISE
