It’s just another tainted Monday As we slip into our job Some flip dollars on the grill Others decide which store to rob We settle into our nesting holes To produce our nation’s wealth Aware of how we are drawn closer each day As the fat man tightens his belt But he is rich so he is God To all the poor girls and boys And he bellows out his upper class rights To silence all their noise They quiet down so their working days Aren’t longer than before As minimum wage neglects to raise While our economy soars And the regulators pick their prey The ones who make the loudest sound One by one the “traitors” fall Six foot below the ground And only the stupid ones really Bow in respect with all the rest But we must all be the idiots Unless we want to be next We are trapped but still content As long as we have our laws Not the ones that protect our rights But the ones that keep open the malls So we can purchase the symbols That mean not what they seem We are being branded by the same ones That promise the “American Dream” They claim if you’re a hard working and silent And toil without complaint all of your days Rewards will come, but you will never see them And you can’t prove it anyway Your hard-earned money falls into their pockets Of the biased people who choose The victims when they get too smart The only ones that can make them lose But we don’t care as long we get our share We don’t stop and we don’t think The whitewashed walls may hide the truth But they’ll never hide the stink Catch them in their lies and you will die It’s something even the blind can see But the only voice we ever hear is from the rich The ones whose face can afford to be on T.V. Another tainted Monday As we step into our graves But with green cascading all around No one on top wants to be saved |
