Turkey Song

I know this seems a little late
But it’s about time I set you straight
Before you know it next year will come
And I don’t want to end up well done

I know that your idea of loving
Involves me in your kitchen oven
Packed with stuffing and baked to perfection
I have no defense against your aggression

You come at us in groups like herds
Men with guns against us wee birds
Proclaiming to kill for a holiday
But we’re only happy on that day if we’ve got away

You hunt and kill our family and friends
We pray for the day when the slaying ends
Thanksgiving Day? Give thanks to who?
For men who treat us like we’re food?

I can understand you want something on your plate
But I know another bird who tastes twice as great
But I’m not the guy you want to hunt
A fat little chicken is what you want!
