Welcome to the unofficial homepage of the Highlands Links Golf Course. The Highlands Links are located in Ingonish Beach, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The course is owned and operated by Parks Canada. Golf Magazine(1999) ranks the Highlands Links as the #1 golf course in Canada and 57th in the world. Score magazine announced the Highlands Links as the #1 course in Canada in July 2000. It's beauty can not be matched! Designed by Stanley Thompson in 1939, it is known as one of Canada's masterpieces. Thompson's genius is illustrated in the use of outstanding land-forms, pristine environment and inspiring ocean views. The seven mile layout now boasts electric carts, a new clubhouse and state of the art irrigation system.
The Highlands Links begin on the rocky headlands of Middlehead and travel inland through the lovely wooded area's of the Clyburn Valley. You will venture along the panoramic Clyburn river, nestled among mountains such as Franey Mountain. Be prepared for the magnificent beauty and bring your camera along! Many visitors have noted that the walk alone is well worth the green fees.
Wildlife abounds along your trek through some of Cape Breton Highlands National Park most scenic landscapes. Moose, fox, deer, bald eagles and yes even the controversial eastern cougar can be spotted during your round.
The Highlands Links is a very challenging course which requires great concentration. Thompson designed a course which will test your skills to the fullest. A simple shot will appear sufficient, but what's around that hill? Always look at the full picture. A misplaced drive here will haunt you forever!
