Game Three of the 1999 season was played by most people at Mainland on May 22nd.
In the A flight, Ron
Jones took 3 from Dick Blystone
and Bob Welc took 3 from Herman Ellzy. Mike Cwicrtnicwzcz took 2.5 points from Roy Craig and Steve Flynn has
yet to post a score against Steve Ellzy.
Steve Ellzy had the best gross of the
day, at 81, with Ronnie’s 83 a close
second. Mike was the only A player
who mastered the ever-changing greens, requiring only 31 putts to start his
mid-season comeback. The very same man also accumulated 25 par/birdie points, overshadowing
Ron’s impressive 23.
Dick Blystone weaseled yet another two
birdies and Herman, Roy, Steve Ellzy and Ron each scraped one.
In the B flight, Steve
Margetich pulled all 3 points from Dan
Stevens, Max McHenry took 2.5 from
Roman Hrycushko, Doug Perks scraped 2.5 from Mike Brychcy and Kevin
Stevenson ripped 2 from Grant Blair
in one of the most exciting
card-matching sessions Bob’s ever waded through.
Steve Margetich, chipping sans-sight
Grant easily managed best gross
in the B flight, with his 96. Roman
was next with 103. Grant won putting
honors, taking 30 to Kevin’s 31. Kevin topped Grant in par/birdie honors, managing 26 points to Grant’s 23.
Kevin and Grant each scored five natural pars.
Bob Welc leads Mike Cwiertniewicz by half a point. Herman now ties Dick for
low scoring average, with 87. Dick
also leads in par/birdie points, with 59 to Ron’s
57. Roy and Mike aren’t far behind, with 55 apiece.
Dick leads Ron in the putting hunt, having taken 3 putts less this season for
his 33.67 average. Dick has five
birdies, three more than Roy and Steve Ellzy.
Kevin, stroking his way atop the B’s
Kevin
Stevenson nudged
ahead of Grant Blair to lead in match
points by 8 to Grant’s 7. Grant has the lowest scoring average
with 94; Doug is next with 97. Grant leads par/birdie points with 69,
that’s 5 ahead of Kevin. Grant also extended his lead in putting:
93 versus Kevin’s 106. That
corresponds to 31 putts/round average. Grant
also leads in the final category, natural pars, by 14 to Kevin’s 11.
