Wimbledon 2000 ***NOTE:The Rankings Are Based On Wimbledon, and therefore may not be the current Rankings in the World***

The numbers speak for themselves. On Saturday, July 8, 2000, the women's Wimbledon final was held. The two contenders were #2 seed Lindsay Davenport (U.S.) and #5 seed Venus Williams (U.S.)...And the winner is Venus Williams. She defeated Lindsay Davenport in two sets, 6-3, 7-6. This is the first Grand Slam title for Venus Williams, and one that she will cherish forever.
On Sunday, July 9, 2000, the men's final was held, with an overwhelming large crowd. The two contenders were Pete Sampras (U.S.) and #12 seed Patrick Rafter (Australian). The first set was won by Patrick Rafter, 7-6. Just when the crowd thought that Patrick Rafter would have a good chance in defeating the #1 ranked player (in terms of Wimbledon rankings, actually Andre Agassi is ranked #1), Pete Sampras came back, and proceeded to defeat Patrick Rafter in the remaining three sets. The final score: 6-7, 7-6, 6-4, 6-2. 1
