Overview

Willard has lived all of his life in Northern Ontario. He was schooled in the "Soo" and in Massey. His working life started with National Grocers in Sault Ste. Marie, where he met and married Mabel Mckay. She was a Registered Nurse at the Plummer Memorial Hospital. Ira talked Willard into joining the Canadian Pacific Railway where he was employed as a brakeman. While on a run with his father, he was switching some cars at Webbwood when he accidentally slipped and lost his right arm. This unfortunate incident led him eventually into the lumber and building supplies. He evolved into the Building Trades, where he was a successful retailer and developer. In the late 1950s and early 60s, for example, he supplied most of the material that went into the construction of Elliot Lake, Ontario. Willard is also an involved member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, as well as other community services.

In "semi"-retirement, Willard enjoys his family, his business & political friends, and the great outdoors.
