A Thursday Without Rain Is Like…

Who'd of thunk it?  A Thursday with no rain!  Even though there were black clouds hovering above early on, nary a drop of precipitation was felt.  But methinks that some AMF'ers may have welcomed some rain.  Last week during a steady rain the scores were as low as they have been all season.  This week the boys generally struggled in the benign conditions with two notable exceptions.  Dave H (90) and Stu (73) came in at –7 net to share top spot this week and earned $15.00 each. The irony? Dave and Stu were two of the few who had a rough time in the wet last week.  Dave H's winnings earn him his AMFGA card for 2007.  2005 AMFGA Champ Stu now moves into first place in the 2006 AMFGA Standings. With eight weeks to go Stu has an $11.25 lead over Bryan in his bid to become the first to win back-to-back AMFGA championships.  Click here for the full results from August 10.

Stu earned the first place10 points in the Super Senior Competition.  Stu leapfrogs over Stan to take over top spot.  Frank earned 5 points

The Masters increased their lead in the Team Competition to six by earning three points this week.  The Pacemakers couldn't transfer the inspiration of the triumphant return to action of their captain Nigel onto to the course and earned 2 points.  The Jaggers brought up the rear for the sixth consecutive week.

The Beer Game was captured by the quartet of  Dave H, Stu, Bryan and Stan.   They finished at –15, good for  a three stroke victory.

Six Cleaners worth $5.00 each were again awarded this Thursday.  Dave H (11,13) and Stu (6,14) won a pair each.  Singles went to Bryan (7) and Bill T(15).  There seems to be a correlation between the Beer Game and the Cleaner winners.  Or vice-versa!

Notes: Next week - August 17th will be the next major – The AMFGA Championship.  Monday, August 14th the re-scheduled AMFGA Scramble at Lakeview.  Friday. August 18th is the AMFGA Dog Day Classic and will be contested at Brae Ben.  Both events start at 9:00 a.m.
