Pinehurst No. 2 - New Course |
Described by Bobby Jones as 'the St.
Andrews of United States golf,' Pinehurst No. 2 ranks
among the most storied courses of the world. Designed by
Scottish born course designer DOnald Ross in 1901,
Pinehurst No. 2 was only one of more than 400 courses
Ross designed in North America. Ross lived at Pinehurst for 48 years, which enabled him to lavish continual attention on No. 2, and it is considered by most to be his finest work. Pinehurst No. 2 features, small, sloping greens, deep bunkers, loose sandy soil, and rough accents of native wiregrass. It is the site of the 99th U.S. Open in 1999 and is currently rnaked #6 in the U.S. and #8 in the world of The Top 100 Courses in the U.S./World by Golf Magazine. As it was redesigned for the 1999 US open, Access remade their version for Links LS99. Access's version mimicks the par 70 version to be used in this years open. |
