Custom-Fit Clubs, Repairs & Alterations

"Proper Fit Means Better Golf"

Final Thoughts

Anyone with a few basic tools and basic mechanical skills can assemble a golf club (i.e., cut the shaft, glue the components and install a grip) from the individual components (head, shaft & grip).  In fact, many people do that and claim to be "custom clubmakers".  The real trick lies in understanding how the 20 Equipment Specifications interact with each other and how they affect the 5 Shotmaking Factors to produce a finished club that both feels right and performs consistently (i.e., "fits" the player).  Proper tools and equipment, including a loft/lie adjustment stand, shaft frequency machine and accurate swing speed analyzer are necessities for the modern clubmaker given the nearly endless head style, material and loft/lie combinations combined with an endless assortment of shaft type and flex combinations available.  As with any skill or profession, you should be wary of people practicing without license (or certification).  Both the GCA (Golf Clubmakers Association) and PCS (Professional Clubmakers Society) conduct comprehensive accreditation exams to provide credible recognition for the truly dedicated, professional clubmakers.  If you've never dealt with a true "professional" clubmaker, perhaps it's time you considered doing so.

Remember my earlier statement about clones or knock-offs?   Simply put, clone heads are unreliable in terms of loft, lie, weight accuracy and overall quality (not to mention the fact that a number of clone manufacturers and dealers have law suits pending against them because of patent infringements).  All clubs made by Clubmaster Golf are assembled from top quality components (heads, shafts & grips) and fully backed by manufacturers' warranties against defects or breakage under normal use.
