The all-important draw for the EPOB Australia Day Golf Classic took place at Westys’ House under the supervision of Westy, Wrighty and Rocky on Wednesday the 19th at 9pm. It was all done fair and square with no fudging of the pairs. This is how it turned out:

We are intending to go to the Maylands Water Park. Peninsula Road, Maylands. After the match to meet up with Wives and Kids. We should all be finished around 12:30 – 1:00 so anytime thereafter we’ll be there. It’s a donation to get in (So Westy says it’s free!) and there is plenty of shade and pools for the Kids to play in. We will bring in our own grog, (no glass and as long as you have the beer covered, hence the stubby holder, no problems). We will also get some chickens, salad and bread rolls, wine and soft drink. Hopefully all can make it back for a few hours. If the weather doesn’t look favorable we will make a switch to Burswood Park, next to the Casino near the Power Boat Club where the swings are, but you’ll be notified beforehand if that’s the case.
FORMGUIDE:
Westy and Delbo Westy is keen to get his name on the Trophy for the first time but a pairing with old "Tic Toc", last years winner, may see him having to wait another year for a realistic chance. While Delbo can produce the goods at times he was given an armchair ride last year and with his preparation this year including carrying bricks and shoveling sand his (back)swing may be a little rough. 8/1
Stewy and Porky A dark horse pairing. The whisper is out that Stewy can play abit, so with another ex-champ in Porky as his partner the bookmakers have installed this pair as their second favorites. The pressure will be on though as its always difficult to win first up and playing against Butch- one of the best distracters in the business they will both have to be on their game. 4/1
Barts and Butch Butch has been a regular player in an attempt to raise his game to the level required but from all reports he is not making much headway. Barts as usual has been quiet in his preparation and could be the surprise in the field. Butch – you better bring a spare buggy for Barts so that the fatigue that affected him last year after carrying his clubs won’t hinder him this year. 10/1
Ross and Ian Red Hots! Get your money on-if anyone will take it. Ian a two-time winner (could be the first to "three peat" if recent form is any guide) paired with Ross, who is capable of anything on the day, are the Bookies early favorites. How well they handle the weight of expectation and the heckling from the crowd could determine their position at the finish. 3/1
Hawkeye and Holly Hawkeye makes his long awaited return, fresh from the European tour armed with the latest clubs from America , he should be primed for this event. Paired with Holly who is also a capable player this could be a danger group and one to watch out for. Perhaps the possible jet lag and lack of on course preparation time may hinder their chances? 5/1
Maughany and Gav Another good pairing. The excitable Howlett, a keen student of the game matched with the big hitting and level headed approach of Dingo this group is capable of producing the goods if they can get it all together. If Maughany can keep his ball in play and if Gav can keep focused for 18 holes anything could happen.(A couple of big ifs though!) 6/1
Wrighty and Arch Another likely pairing. Archs’ natural ability is sure to see him strike the ball pretty well even with limited recent form and matched with another old timer who is usually thereabouts, this pairing could just sneak past a few of the more fancied groups. 7/1
Blakes and Cheese Blakes went pretty close last year and again could be in the wash up if the Cheese knob lives up to his well earned reputation. Not too many have seen these two in action of late so it may be wise to keep them safe in the betting. 5/1
