Ian and Ross Too Good.

In what was termed a "horror" day for the bookies, red hot favorites Ian and Ross proved too good,  to take out the 6th annual EPOB Australia Day Golf Classic.
Playing on a course that was definitely "lefty friendly", The pair proved too consistent over 18 holes and ran out comfortable winners. Stewy and Porky were the next best a few strokes behind with a bunch of others close for third.
Ian has become the first player to "three-peat" this prestigious event and he doesn't get to keep the trophy as we have only got it up and running for show this year. There is no truth to the early rumour circulating that he will be handicapped out of contention next year. The word back though was that it was a team effort as Ross produced the goods when needed.
Special mention must be made of the NAGA's (Not a golfers arsehole) Besty and Tommy, who tailed the field. Both were at a loss to explain their poor form in post game discussions and were seen drowning their sorrows with others at the aftermatch.

The Aftermatch.
What a change, we finally had an aftermatch where there were not too many complaints to the organizers. Thanks must go to Westy for recommending such a good spot. The weather turned out great and all had an enjoyable few hours. Not having to cook was also a bonus and made for a relaxing afternoon. A few kicked on back to Westys' and drank another block of "pensioners piss" while watching the fireworks. As usual Howlett was the last to leave and in top form. He kept the crowd entertained with plenty stories, batting off into a foam tube, one of the most memorable. The last we saw he was getting in a taxi asking the driver how many girls the fella had picked up in Claremont and killed lately, while opening a can of beer. We don't know if he got all the way back to Iluka or not- anybody know?

What They Said.
ROCKY-"Who said Apple could hit the ball 150?"
APPLE-"Well what do you expect, I haven't swung a club since last year"

DELBO-"I thought someone said Westy had been having lessons!"
WESTY-"I hope your share tips are closer to the mark than your golf shots"

BARTS- "At least I helped stop Butch from getting back to back NAGA's"
BUTCH- "What have I done to deserve these crabs every year?"

STEWY-"At least I thumped Glen"
PORKY-"Are any of you East Perth pricks going to put up some competition or what?"

IAN- "Another day, another tournament another victory"
ROSS-"Hows your drink Ian, need any sunscreen, what about a neck rub?"

TOMMY-"Demoralised"-end quote
BESTY"-Everytime I hit a good one so did Tommy, every time I stuffed up so did Tom."

HAWK-"I haven't hit the ball as bad since the other day in Florida or that time at St Andrews."
HOLLY-"Happy with my game early, but I struggled on the back nine"

GAV-"I never recovered after my club went further than my ball on the first tee"
MAUGHANY-"No comment"  but off the record-"how can you concentrate playing with him?"

BLAKES-"Howlett's a bloody lunatic!"
CHEESE- "No he isn't, he's just fucking mad."

ARCH-"For my first hit in three years I thought I did okay"
WRIGHTY-"I just couldn't find any consistent form, afew good ones but plenty of shit"

Planning for next Year.

Early thoughts are for a game in Dunsborough. The Public Holiday is supposedly on the Friday, so we could get down there early on the Friday,(or even Thursday evening) and play leaving us time for a big aftermatch that evening- and the rest of the weekend free for whatever.
I know there will be some problems for a few but its not set in concrete yet, so if you have any thoughts let Westy, Besty, Wrighty or Rocky know.
Think of it this way at least Gav won't have to worry about being the last to leave if we have a BBQ at his place.
If it is going to be on down there we might have to do a bit of number crunching early to get numbers so as to organize accommodation etc.
