First ever Tie in Golf Classic.

This years event saw the first ever tie in the history of the EPOB Australia Day Golf Classic. As no provision had been made before the match in the event of a tie, the match committee had no option but to declare dual winners of this years event.
Wrighty and Besty had the chance to claim victory on the last, needing only Par to secure a one stroke win. But after two great shots to be on in two, they three putted to bogey the hole.
Westy and Delbo had their problems to, seemingly out of contention early as they turned 3 over after nine. However, they were able to par the back nine and post a winning score. There was obviously plenty of tension in the foursome in a keenly fought match against Cheese and Hawk- it got so close that Westy at one stage called for a ruling from another group on the 16th. hole.

It was pleasing to note that the event was pretty close and most groups, with the exception of a couple, were all there abouts at the end. The draw was held the day before in a short warm up event where 8 players were present. All can verify that the pairings were done above board and we teed of in the exact order that names were pulled out.

(Editors Note: Delbo should be severly repremanded for wearing a Falcons hat to the day and during the presentation ceremony. It has been blacked out of the picture out of respect to the other EPOB players who were rightly quite upset by the incident)

The Aftermatch.
After a little procrastination the aftermatch was finally decided upon the day before. With Gav worried about the possible damage to his house from the 30 or so kids expected, it was thought that Centennial Park, on the beach just out of town, would be the best spot. It turned out to be a good venue as it allowed the kids to go for a swim and play on the swings and stuff. There was plenty of food and drink to go round and a good afternoon was had by all.
There were plenty of hard luck stories as the golf was relived and the banter continued.
Even old Joe Cocker turned up to have a quiet beer and catch up.
Following that a few ventured back to Gavs for a game of backyard cricket and a taste of his homebrew. Some of the lucky ones even got to see inside the shed and see Gav fire up the BBQ. In true Gav style he drank as much as anyone and was nodding off to sleep before the last people left.

What They Said.
ROCKY-"Geez"-(through clenched teeth everytime Ross hit the ball)
ROSS-"Rockys best shot of the day came from out of some blokes backyard"

MORGS-"The only time I got to play was around the greens"
BRAD CHRISSO-"I was abit scratchy until that six pack of Burbon kicked in"

TOMMY- "We were in the hunt until "velcro" Blakely started the gamesmanship "
BUTCH- "I thought Tommy used to be a bit of a hack?"

BLAKES-"I thought Butch was the master of the mind game- he was easy to get!"
KEEVS-"I knew from the first hole it was going to be a long round"

WESTY- "I partnered Delbo a couple of years back and he was bloody hopeless"
DELBO-"I told you Mandurah was no fluke"

CHEESE-"Four!!!"
HAWK-"I'd rather be called  a choker than a cheat"

BESTY-"All those corporate games at the vines have finally paid off."
WRIGHTY-"Just as well Besty's a big fella, he carried me for the first nine"

GAV-"I knew we had no chance by the third hole, so I concentrated on coaching Besty and   Wrighty to victory."
JOCK-"I thought Gav could play a bit"

The Rumour File (A spot for all the "BEST" rumours)
Rumour has it Rock has refused to ever tee up again in the EPOB Classic if
drawn with Hacker Greer.

Crossy has already commenced pre season for EPOB 2002 - rumour has it he's
concentrating on finetuning his performance for the after game party!.

Delbo has commenced putting together a spinoff tournament for wives &
girlfriends!

Wrighty to source his own secret fishing & crabbing spots - Westy & Blakers
have a got a lot to answer for!

Gav Howlett was devastated the morning after the great backyard cricket game to
find three broken daffodils, 2 crushed geraniums and a bruised blackboy.

Butch wasn't really asleep in Delbos car on the way home, he just didn't want to put up with Delbo gloating all the way back to Mandurah.

Delbo confessed that he was a garlic muncher at heart after refusing to display some East Perth memorobilia in the new Choice Corporate Board room.

The "Cunny" and "Lingus" Cups organisers,  having successfully poached "Dingo" Maughan are rumoured to be targeting other high profile EPOB players to be included in their future Australia Day Weekend tournaments.

Planning for next Year.
A little bird whispered that Butch wanted to volunteer to organize it? To be confirmed.
