THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

and

PRO FOOTBALL

March 2005. Well, this past year sucked. I had season tickets for the first time, and I thought this would be the year. I was suprised, because I thought with being a first time season ticket holder my seats would be not-so-great. But, they were pretty good, to the suprise of Jason and Aaron as well.

Well, the Cheifs have already made some free agent moves, suprisingly, and look like they are taking the defense seriously this time. We got Kendrell Bell, former pro bowler with the Steelers, and also Sammy Knight from the Dolphins. Kendrell Bell is a serious linebacker, and will also provide great leadership on the field, which it appears the Chiefs have been lacking. He is a proven tackler, which also has been missing (you could see from my seats), and can play inside as a run stopper, or outside as a pash rusher. Then Sammy Knight, an excellent safety. He is second in interceptions, and can play free or strong. Safeties do not get a lot of credit, but Knight is well known in the defensive back role. He is a hard hitter, and can close on the ball with great speed. He will make his presence known very early in a game, and can cause wide receivers to look for him and pull up with the sound of his footsteps.

This is probably Dick Vermiel's last year as coach, so we need to get it done. I should have even bette seats this year, and will have more seats as well. We are also planning a road trip to Dalas to see them take on the Cowboys. That will be tough, Parcells will have them playing better.

The draft will tell a lot, but I think the Cheifs will go for defensive players hard. Even with the signing of younger free agents, they will draft a corner high, and go for linebackers in the middle of the draft. Somewhere in there will be a wide receiver. They need to set themselves up in the other positions, so they can get a quarterback in the next draft or two.
