The award on the right is known as the William M. Jennings Trophy. It is annually awarded "to the goalkeeper(s) having played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against it." The award was first presented in the 1981-1982 season in honour to the late William M. Jennings. Jennings was a longtime governor and president of the New York Rangers. He was also considered one of the great builders of hockey in the USA. Roy has shared this trophy with Brian Hayward, Roy's back-up at the time, three times and won it on his own once.
This award is known as the Conn Smythe Trophy. First presented in 1964, it is an annual award "to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs." The winner is selected by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the end of the final game of the Stanley Cup Finals. Smythe was the former coach, manager, president, and owner-governor of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Roy won this award twice: in his rookie season in 1986 and against Wayne Gretzky's LA Kings in 1993.
If you don't know what this award is, get the hell off my site!! (Just kidding) For those of you who are not hockey fans and/or new to this planet, this is The Stanley Cup. Presented in 1893 by Frederick Arthur, Lord Stanley of Preston and son of the Earl of Derby, this symbol of hockey supremacy is given to the team that wins the Finals. Sometimes called Hockey's Holy Grail, the Cup is engraved with the name of every player, coach, etc. of the team that has won it. Roy has won the Cup three times: Two with Montreal (in 1986 against Calgary and in 1993 against LA) and one with Colorado (in 1996 against Florida).
