Recap

The regular Sudbury South power supply was donated for the 24 Petit Lemans race in Mississauga next weekend. Unfortunately the backup power supply only offers 17.5 Volts maximum, so the lap times were a little off the mark for the modifieds, but Paul managed to post a new record for the Turbos. I think the Turbos are easier to control at a lower voltage allowing for more aggressive driving, leading to a lower lap time (just my opinion). The race itself was closer than it looked. On the last lap Neil slowed his car along the main straight in an effort to coast over the finish line. Unfortunately the car stalled on a track joint less than a foot from the finish line, and Paul passed him for the win.

We also tried out the Championship feature of Trakmate to see what it had to offer. With only three racers, it was uneventful, but I can see with 5 or more racers, it is a good way to select drivers for the final heats based on their points accumulated throughout the qualifying heats. Neil wanted a rematch in the modified race, so the timer was reset to lap heats and the race was started. In the final heat, Gilles and Neil raced side by side for the entire heat without causing a track call for the 15 laps. At the line it was Neil crossing 0.06 seconds ahead of Gilles.

Great racing, we just need a few more racers!

Next racing Wednesday April 6th.
