Freedom of speech

Its not that I disagree with the freedom of speech, I just don't think that it should be used to protect those who promote violence and hate. Groups like the KKK and other hate groups should not be protected by the freedom of speech, but they are. They preach their idiotic messages of intolerance, then hide under the umbrella of the first amendment. This being a law that was created to protect those who spoke out about ideas that are meaningful and thought provoking, yet unpopular. Our forefathers (and foremothers) wanted those who had a small voice, to be heard, speak their opinion, and not be prosecuted by those in power just because they don't agree. I don't think the good folks that penned the first amendment considered the ways in which the hate groups of today would abuse such a law. Most people of our country have come to accept such hateful people, and allow then to speak simply because the law protects them and allows then to do so. Well I say the law is wrong. We need to consider the effects that these groups have on our society, they divide our country, promoting racism, violence, riots, and can even be blamed for countless deaths. Is allowing them to spread their message really worth the price that our country is paying to do so? Hell no! Hate groups must be stopped, and one critical step in preventing their diseased mentality from spreading is to make an exception to our freedom of speech law. Criminalize the intentional spread of messages that are used with the deliberate intent to invoke feelings of hate or discontent towards another person due to their race, religion, color or any other stupid reason.

And after they do that, they'll elect Robin Williams as president and make Cloud City the new capital of the United States.
