Biting cold
The entire past week was VERY cold, with temperatures as low as minus 15°C at night and minus 10°C at midday. Today (Saturday) wasn't that bad, only minus 5°C, so dad and I went to the park again to see the frozen lake. It was like a skating-ring! However, those folks you can see on the ice weren't skating, but... fishing.
Just couldn't believe my eyes! In one corner the ice had been broken away for the birds to come and be fed and also to swim.
Still, there were people gutsy enough to walk leisurely on the ice only a few meters away.
We, cockers, are extremely capable to flush and retrieve game. It was all there, right under my nose! So I could hardly resist not to plunge into that water and go after it. Ducks have always beckoned me, you know.
I tried to convince dad to take me to a walk on the ice at least, but he said he wasn't exactly feeling like it. Well, I think he was simply getting cold feet J
Anyway, back onshore for some socializing. There were plenty of dogs to play with because we, dogs, don't fear cold as much as humans do.
Here's some of my acquaintances of the day.
See (in the far right picture) how sturdy and tall that Doberman bitch was compared with me? Right, so when I started my cocker-style courtship on her, she ran away like a frighten lamb, poor thing :)
This is the beer garden called "The Tram" dad and I used to come to cool off at the end of our strolls in the park. But today it looked totally deserted. I don't blame them on this biting cold! |
