A publication of the Azteca Toastmasters Club

Jim Brown, CTM, Editor

Recipe for Corn Casserole revealed!

This is a secret recipe of Jim Brown's family. It won't be published until I have his okay. Okay?

For inclusion of articles in The Azteca Early Bird, please give to Jim Brown at a meeting.

Many thanks to all who returned the questionnaires regarding this newsletter. Responses included the following:

100% are in favor of a newsletter.

Four are in favor of monthly publication.

One favors every three months.

All are willing to submit articles.

Names submitted for the newsletter: the Orator, Toastmaster Talk. Betsy Macias thought it should be named The Azteca, The Azteca Early Bird, The Azteca Sunrise (or Sunriser). Since no one else included their name, I have no idea who submitted the other names. One thought that we should have a contest. What do you think?

Whether we should list phone numbers was mixed, but in the questionnaire I should have said all officer phone no's, but these will be published only if agreed upon by the individual officers.

Features on members are highly favored, as are outside speaking moments and other stories related to Toastmaster activities.

All are in favor of other personal announcements (birthdays, anniversaries, new jobs, trips by members, visits to outside clubs, etc).

All are in favor of a column by an officer in each issue.

One member thinks a fun quiz, speaking tips, tidbits about famous speakers, and defining a Toastmaster term like Table topics, etc. would be good.

One member thinks we should list winners of ribbons each week

ALL good ideas, which I'll include in upcoming issues.

Remember the ABC's and XYZ's of public speaking:

ABC: Always be courteous.

XYZ: Examine your zipper.

Thanks to the former charter member and Azteca originator Bob Traber, DTM for that small but important speakers tip.

Remember to recruit your friends, acquaintances, hairdresser, etc to come to a meeting. They can only gain by attending!

Your ideas for the newsletter are welcome. Please don't hesitate to state them, no matter how new you are to the club. They're important!

This is a "test" issue for the "Early Bird." Subsequent issues will have regular columns, features, etc.
