The mind is a wonderful thing -it starts
working the instant you're born, and doesn't stop
until you get up to speak in public. *

Yes, you can! Believing is magic. You can
always better your best. You don't know what you
can do until you try.
Nothing will come of nothing. If you don't go out
on a limb, you're never going to get the fruit.
There is no failure except in no longer trying. Hazy
goals produce hazy results. Clearly define you
goals. Write them down, make a plan for achieving
them, set a deadline, visualize the results and
go after them. Just don't look back unless you
want to go that way.
Thanks to Immediate Past President Sally
Anderson, CTM for submitting these inspirational
thoughts.

Over the next few issues of The Azteca Early
Bird, I will run a few of the "Ten Tips for
Successful Public Speaking", from Toastmasters
International
Jim Brown, Editor.1. Know the room. Be
familiar with the place in which you will speak.
Arrive early, walk around the speaking area and
practice using the microphone and any visual
aids.
2. Know the audience. Greet some of the
audience as they arrive. It's easier to speak to
a group of friends than to a group of strangers.
3. Know your material. If you're not familiar
with your material or are uncomfortable with it,
your nervousness will increase. Practice your
speech and revise it if necessary.
4. Relax. Ease tension by doing exercises.
5. Visualize yourself giving your speech.
Imagine yourself speaking, your voice loud, clear
and assured. When you visualize yourself as
successful, you will be successful.
