Somewhere In Time

Somewhere In Time

Beyond fantasy. Beyond obsession.
Beyond time itself...he will find her.

Richard Matheson wrote the screenplay for this 1980 movie starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. This movie had all the elements which make a movie a masterpiece, a movie you want to watch over and over. They used a real place, The Grand Hotel, which makes it seem more real and binds it to the present. They had two beautiful people in love. The man is a hero, willing to do what he must do to be with his love, in this case, travel back through time. The costumes and set designs were carefully chosen. Added to these elements was the music of Rachmaninoff--to make this film perfection.

This motion picture was based on the book Bid Time Return also written by Richard Matheson.
Time

Richard Matheson is one of my favorite science fiction writers. He has written many screenplays for the motion picture industry as well as for television. This is just my little way of saying thank you to a man who has given me much to think about, something to cry about, and many hours of entertainment. Thank you, Richard. Mr Matheson recently completed the motion picture screenplay for "What Dreams May Come".

"What Dreams May Come"

Richard Matheson is probably most noted for his novel I Am Legend published in January 1976, a classic novel which is "one of the most frightening and influential vampire novels ever written." (Quote from Barnes and Nobles). Most of his screenplays are based on his novels.

I Am Legend published in 1995 is a collection of his work containing the original "I Am Legend" plus a number of short stories, including "Dress of White Silk", which had an influence upon author Anne Rice.

I also recommend reading Richard Matheson: He is Legend written by Mark Rathbun and Graeme Flanagan. (1984)
