Aprils Featured Southrons - Confederate American - Almost a Romance Novel in itself - This couple serves the Confederacy today and everyday with four outstanding Confederate sites, each serving a distinct and special purpose. Their mission . . . presenting and preserving the Southern point of view about history and exposing the lies taught in schools today. The Dixieland Ring proudly presents Ron and Barbara Ainsworth. The Confederate American
The Confederate American flag started as Rons personal battle flag while serving in the Mercenary service. It flew side of him in Africas Belgian Congo, Cuba, and Laos. The graphic of the Confederates charging on Confederate American's splash page shows the good guys with the Confederate American flag. That image was made with a photograph of a real battle flag, cropped, cut, and pasted to the other image of the good guys charging.
Though retirement age, Ron would not think of giving up his job with the Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office. His favorite cases are homicides, and his Crime Scene work has won him several awards including the Governors Award. Rons favorite case involved a break-in of the home of a wonderful girl named Barbara who would eventually become his wife. He earned his first hug by finding a palm print of the burglar. Home at the time of the break-in, Barbara was in robe and rollers. It scared Ron so bad that he walked right on out the door. Barbara learned that Ron lived just across the street from her and they began small flirtations while Barbara walked her dog.
Comparing notes over many suppers revealed their common ground. Ron was hooked on Barbaras cooking and they spent many evenings comparing notes. In Rons own words, "we both had abusive parents. We were both raised by maternal grandmothers. We both divorced at the same time for the same reasons. We both liked the same things and most important, we liked each other." Both Ron and Barbara come from Confederate families his from Louisiana and hers from Georgia. Barbaras two daughters and Rons son and daughter were thrilled when they decided to marry stating in unison "its about time." Their children are grown and independent leaving Ron and Barbara time to enjoy dinner, dancing, barbecues and seafood boils. Besides their grandchildren, Trevor and Savanna, both Ron and Barbara enjoy Confederate history and especially trips to Beauvoir in Biloxi for which Barbara made and donated a 5 ft. x 7 ft. 3rd National Flag. The name Confederate American came about many years ago. Ron states "anytime I had the opportunity to fill a blank with my Nationality or Ethnic Background, I filled the blank with Confederate for nationality and Confederate American for ethnic background. What you see in the Confederate American logo flag is my own battle flag and my personal ensign. Thats the flag I flew from the yard of my sloop. A personal ensign is also known as an Owners Flag on a vessel." Ron started Confederate American about the same time that he met Barbara. He started it mainly because there was not much about the Confederacy or the Southern way of life on the Internet. His desire was to present the Southern point of view about history and expose the lies that were being taught in schools. He and Barbara have both certainly contributed to exposing the political correct history that is taught in our schools today. Russ Tucker of "The Galveston Squadron, Texas Marine Department, CSN" contacted Ron about giving him server space to start a CSN site. This led Ron to encourage more Confederate Web Sites by offereing all interested parties 100 K of storage, free of charge. What Russ started on Confederate American has turned out to be one of the fastest growing and most respected Confederate re-enactor units in the world. Its gotten so big that the bluebacks get in touch when they cant put Navy personnel in the field or at sea. Russ has also revised the CSMC crediting it to his website. The Russ Tucker site is a site to visit often. The Confederate Lady evolved because of Barbaras interest in Confederate heritage and culture and because she couldnt find such a page on the Internet. The need existed and Barbara fulfilled it. The Confederate Lady has a large and loyal following. "Confederate American" and "The Confederate Lady" are both charter members of the Dixieland Ring. In fact when the Dixieland Ring was founded, Ron was the very first Southern Web Site to sign up and still maintains the #2 slot out of almost 130 sites. The Ainsworths new sites "The CSA Today" and "The Confederate Citizen" are also Dixieland Ring members. Any person maintaining an Internet Web Site knows how much work is involved in such an undertaking. These four sites are as good as they get. The CSA Today started from an idea that came about when Ron butted heads with, in his words, "that Yankee leaning rag, USA Today." The Ainsworths won that battle and The CSA Today came to life as a site that compares what was the CSA to what it is now. Such as the article on Fort Jackson that told the story of the famous battle and toured the fort as it is today. CSA is running a feature that was sent in by a visitor and regular reader of the Confederate American Websites. The Confederate Citizen is truly a work of art exposing the lies about our history and heritage for what they truly are. Ron feels a special kinship with George Kalas, webmaster of Dixienet, League of the South. When the idea of Confederate Citizen first materialized, George was the person that Ron went to for advice. Being a stranger, Ron never expected the degree of help and patience given by George. Though George and Ron have never met face-to-face, they are far from strangers and Ron considers George to be one of his very best friends. See Kalas Feature What does the future hold for the Ainsworths? There are several more Confederate sites in the works. With a huge amount of server space and their own domain in preparation, plans are being made for a commercial site to help finance the improvements. With their previous records for supporting the South and exposing the lies, I am sure it will be a great success. As usual, Ron and Barbara are working and achieving together. They claim that every day together has always been wonderful. In the years of knowing each other, they have not yet had their first argument. "Some things we disagree on," says Ron, "but we never argue a point. We sit down and talk it over." This sounds like wonderful Southern logic to me. ADDENDUM: Since this feature was written, Ron has come up with a super idea about correct history. The following is taken from the awards page:
