NORTHERN PYRAMID OF SNEFERUDahshur DYNASTY IV, 2680-2565 B.C. This is the first true pyramid. It standardizes the shape of all pyramids to come. Its four sides are equilateral triangles which meet at a point. The smaller pyramid to the left is the bent pyramid of Sneferu which is a transitional form. The slope of its sides probably was adjusted due to the development of cracks in the base during the construction. |
