Dessert of the Day!!

Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce

1 loaf day old french bread
4 cups milk
6 eggs
1 block butter
2 cups sugar
1 Tlb. vanilla

Melt butter, mix eggs, sugar, butter & vanilla Beat slow....add milk gradually. Break bread into small pieces let soak 10 min. in milk mixture. Pour into greased pan. Bake 40 min. at 350.
Remove from oven....
Increase heat to 425.

Place on top in this order-
Small can pet milk
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter (cut into pats)
Bake until sugar is marblized 10-15 min.

Rum Sauce

1 cup Carnation milk
1 cup fresh milk
1 cup sugar
3 Tlb.butter
2oz. Rum
3 or 4 drops yellow food coloring

In a double boiler, put milks, sugar and butter. When hot dissolve cornstarch in a little water and add to hot milk. Stir until thick...
Remove from fire, then add Rum and food coloring..
Pour small amounts on pudding when served...
