Fig Cake


2 1/2 cup plain flour
1 tea. salt
1 tea. soda
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tea. allspice
1/2 tea. cinnamon
1 cup oil
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk, (use 1 cup milk with 1 Tlb. vinegar)
2 cups chopped fig preserves
1 cup chopped pecans
1 Tlbs vanilla

Sift together flour, salt, soda, sugar and spices in large bowl.
Add oil and beat.
Add eggs and buttermilk and beat.
Stir in fig preserves, nuts and vanilla.
Mix well on low.
Pour into 9 X 13" greased pan.
Bake at 325 for 45 - 50 minutes or until test done.

Mix sauce ingredients and boil on low fire 3 - 5 minutes.
Pour over cake.

1/2 tea. vanilla
