Blackberry Dumplings

4 cups bisquick mix
4 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
3 Tablespoon vanilla
1/4 cup milk
1 quart blackberries
2 cups sugar

Add berries to 1 quart water and the 2 cups of sugar in a large pot.
Cook on med. high heat until sugar water has thickened, about one hour...adding water as needed so syrup is not too thick...Lower fire..
Mix all other ingredients with milk last. Add milk slowly while stirring. You will want the dumpling sticky and not dry.
Drop dumpling by teaspoons into berries. Cover. Cook for 10 minutes. Turn dumplings over and cook for 10 more minutes. Remove cooked dumplings and continue until all dough is used.
You may need to add water to berries while cooking. If more water is needed add slowly and do not use until berries come back to a boil..
