Antoine Bordelon is described in the record of the baptism of his son, Francois, as Assistant Regimental Adjutant (Aide Major) of the militia and Warden of the Parish Church (marguillier de cette paroisse). His position as officer of the militia as also mentioned in other documents. The record of his burial in the registries of Saint Francis Church in Pointe Coupee is dated 25 November 1785. The record states that he died in the night without the last rites. some of his older children are believed to have moved to Avoyelles shortly thereafter. Of the twelve children of both marriages, seven (Pierre, Marianne, Lucille, Augustin, Francois, Vallery, and Zenon) can be definitely placed at Avoyelles Post during the period of 1790-1805. Of the others (Hilaire, who married Sophie Soileau, believed to have settled at Opelousas Post)(Antoine II was at Natchitoches Post 26 January 1795 as a witness of the marriage of his cousin, Hypolite Bordelon, son of Nicolas. No further record of Antoine II)(Victoire and her husband George Barron III were in Avoyelles somewhat later).
Marquerite Frederic, called Leonard (2nd wife of Antoine Bordelon), died at Pointe Coupee on 2 September. 1792.
The sons of Antoine Bordelon (Pierre, Augustin, Francois, Valery, and Zenon) were active in the affairs of early Avoyelles. Valery and Zenon were members of the Police Jury after statehood. Francois was emancipated at the age of 20 so that he could conduct his own affairs. He was a Justice of the Peace in 1817 and by the time of his death on 19 May 1832 he had acquired much land. He was survived by his wife and two children.
