As I fled into the darkness, i felt a presence behind me - one seemingly infinite in strength and
gaining quickly.
at the end of an alley, i spun around, cornered.
"You are Armand's fledgling, Daniel, are you not?"
he asked.
oh s__t, i thought, he knows who i am.
grinning to mask my fear, i gathered my strength and leaped the wall at the back of the alley. a
barrier to mortals perhaps, but not to me!
expecting to be immediatly caught and my intenions read, i was releived when the older
vampire's presence faded from my perception.
who was that? I felt.... He felt strangely familiar... sort of like Armands presence...
My God!! Armand!! I feel Armand!!
faintly, but i am sure he is within the city.
He will know who this strange, powerful vampire is, and can surely sense my presence as i can
sense his. Yes, he will visit me of his own accord, i am sure. We have so much to discuss...
well, tonight is not a night to worry!!
I go to hunt! watch out mortals, tonight a bloodsucker roams the streets!!

Daniel grinned at me and in one great leap, jumped the wall at the end of the alley. Damn! Just
as I went to go after him, I caught the scent of someone very very familiar. Pandora! Never mind
Armand's fiend (or friend. Depending on what he was up to), I
ould find him later. The other night when I had lay eyes on Pandora I had experience suce a rush
of emotion. I just HAD to see her again. I went tracking her down, that precence I knew so
well.

Creeping into Louis room, I stood over him, watching him sleep. I thought of going to read my
diary again, but the thought of all those memories
only saddened and angered me. How could Lestat have lied to me! to us!, for so many years?
Because we would have left sooner if we had known the truth of our bloodline and what strength
we possesed. Louis must know of these things Pandora has told me. And
Lestat, the father of lies, shall be held accountable for what he has done. For the first time in my
immortal life, I realized that I did not hunger for the blood of mortals, and I felt a freedom with
this knowledge. Why, I could kill for the sport now,co
ldn't I? And Armand, let him cross me now, I am as powerful as he with the blood of Pandora in
my veins. I sat on the floor, smiling, awaiting my Louis, my love to awaken.

I awoke with a start. Something was terribly wrong. Nat! I ran to the cell, brushing Doug aside
and opened the door. She seemed to be sleeping, but I didn't trust her."Doug, get the syringe
ready and call in Tom." Tom was the strongest of the men I had ch
sen, both physically and telepathically. Nat was no match for him. Carefully I gripped Nat by the
hair as I bit into my index finger, the blood welling up instantly and beginning to pool over.
Yanking her head back, I let the blood drop into her mouth. Ma
be a little too much for my intended purpose, but I had little time for measuring amounts. This
dose should do the trick, I thought. She has had enough now to sufficiently give her problems if
she doesnt recieve more. Tom stood by with the syring and as I
finished he injected her with a smaller amount of morephine than had previously been used. I
didn't want her unconcious completly, there were
questions she needed to answer. I instructed Tom and Doug to make sure she was fed when she
came around, and for God's sake, relatch the shackle. She thought she was so clever. I was tired
of all these amusements the last several nights and felt a great n
ed to just walk. The French Qaurter was quit tonight, and I sent out to Santino to join me on the
hunt. I was concerned about Lily, that snooping Talamasca agent, and wondered what her
reaction was to finding her three cohorts dead at Oak Haven. The Mother

Water was dripping in the distance and I could hear the scratching of rats as they scurried around
me. This place brought back memories of my days with Lionel - The endless discussions of
politics and plays. We would walk the streets till the sun was j
st about to rise. I would run to the church, because I had no other place to go. I still feel safest in
a church, and though Lestat has met God. How I wish I could meet the thing that allowed me to
die. I realize that being maudlin will get me nowhere.
I crawled out of the space between the alter and the crucifix, listening to the choir practice, their
voices echoeing through the church. As I walked into the night air I focused on my surroundings
searching for an immortal to share my night with, that w
s until I got a call from Pandora.

The vampire snapped at me, saying that he didn't know where Nat or anyone else, for that

but he suddenly softened, saying that he was sorry and that this was
a bad day. "My name's Louis," he said. "Weren't you the one I spoke to on the phone?" "Yeah, I
was," I answered. "I recognized your voice a second ago. It's so...soothing. Not like anything I've
ever heard before." I soon found myself gazing up into his e
erald green eyes from my spot on the couch. Such hypnotic beauty... But he seemed to be getting
almost flustered, as if I was making him nervous. I saw him shoot a look at the window, and the
break from his eyes suddenly cast me back into reality. It was
lmost dawn! "Oh my God, I didn't realize the time!" I exclaimed. "I'm sorry!" I said, while
standing up to go. "Please don't be angry with me for showing up here. I'll leave you alone from
now on." And with that I hurried out the door and through the cour
yard. But something within me knew that I would see him again...

There was a ringing in my head, and for a second I thought I was dead. The room's silence filled

move my hands, but they were paralized by chains. I conc
ntrated on their mass, imagining every cell as they slowly seperated from on another. A click
filled the emptiness and I freed my hands, rubbing the wrists to help the blood circulate. I heard
footsteps coming from outside the cell. Shit! I put my han

body. I heard nothing. Was he checking for something. Damn blindfold. I held my breath and
begged for any noise. Then he left.

Christine became ill discussing the past she had with the Talamasca, and Lestat put her to bed,
with the gentleness of a doting husband. I will never understand this fasination with mortals! Her

outpost. and David, where was he now? The dawn would be here soon, Lestat left, and I decided
to pass the daylight hours here. Going to check on Christine, I took h
r a plastic sports bottle of mineral water."Christine", I whispered softly to her,"I have taken the
liberty of getting you some toiletries and sundries. Here, take these asprin", I held out the bottle
of water and asprin to her, watching her as she swallo

spoke to Doug briefly, asking him to close the house up for the d

Listening to Christine, telling all that she knew, I sat and wondered
about David. Did he knew anything about the Talamasca had turned out to
be? Had he knew it when he left them? Christine was groaning, trying to
get rid of the headache which she had gotten just by trying to remember
something more. I gave Pandora a wondering, almost worried look, as if
she could explain this to me, even though I knew she couldn't. What the
hell was going on here? I saw Christine resting her forehead to her
knees. "Are you okay, chérie?" I asked, knowing she was not, knowing it
probably was a stupid question. I got up and lifted her in my arms,
carrying her into 'her' room, putting her down on the bed. "Rest now, Christine,
and you will feel better." But the dawn was coming and I knew I had to get
out of here, if I would manage to get back to the townhouse. I said goodnight
to Pandora, not sure if she was going to stay here over the day, and left,
to take a flight back home.

The current Superior General is a power-hungry fool." I leaned forward a

After my time in the shackles getting a little carried away with the woman of my dreams, we
took a little walk and I felt the prescence of an old love. Lekiare walked the streets of New

n I wasn't quite sure what it meant. I nipped Pandora on the neck and told her I would come
back tomarrow evening. Sneaking past the odd lovers at the door, I made my way through the
night to the squarewhere I had saved the violinist. I didn't need the
blood, but I loved to hold it in my mouth and so I sought a warm body to couple with. He had
stumbled out of the bar, his black leather jacket dragging on the ground behind him. His
thoughts were of the chick he let get away, and the last two bourbons h
shouldn't have had. I picked up his jacket and slid in behind him, slipping my hands through his
thick black hair. The whore that walked away from you can't do the things I'll do for you. I ;led
him to a bench and pushed him down. The zipper began op
ning and he took a deep breath, shocked at the sound of metal scratching, my fingers unbuttoned
his pants and I reached inside the denim, freeing him to the air. I lowered my head onto him and
began with a steady lick, playing with the candy I had been g
ven. He is head whipped back and he began moaning, "Yeah...man, go for it...take it!" I began
gobbling iall that was given, I knew he was nearing a climax so I took my mouth away and sank
my fangs into his groin just as he came. I was showered with bl
od and life at the same time. The thoughts at this time were...Ahh shit, but it was great...and I bit
into his penis . I looked around to find noone in the vicinity. I carried my buddy to the river and
through his dickless body in the water. I wiped m
mouth and went to the rectory. Finding my old hiding place I lay down to sleep.

With one final glance as I left my room, I was down the stairs searching to go out into the night.
It was a unique feeling that Pandora's blood had left within in me, the burning need for the blood
less than it had been all of these years. I walked the
arkened streets, musing upon this power I held and the withhold of this knowledge by my dearest
Father of Lies. I stopped in my tracks, suddenly, unaware that her blood had strengthened yet
every part of the Dark Gift, as I sensed another not far. I rai
ed my head slowly, blue crystalline eyes alight with fire as I cloaked my thoughts from this
stranger of our kind. Listening through the thoughts of mortals around me, searching for
anything that might tell me who came. Not one word of a red haired angel
oy, and I lowered by guard a little. It was not Armand. Silently I learned that it was a woman of
our kind that approached, alone, her eyes already finding the little golden-haired child standing
motionless...a vampire child. I turned with a smile, cau
ious but interested, and allowed her a small curtsy to let her know I knew she was there.

Santino laid me on the table, I could not resist him, my lover, my confidant who I had not had
the pleasure of in many years. He took me, our minds entwining as the limbs of mortal lovers,
the echoing strains of our souls whispering together. We lay for a
moment together, Santino renweing his vow of devotion to me. Kissing him, I rose,
smiling."Yes, I do have plans my love, plans that must be carefully laid..."There came a knock
on the door and Izu came into the front hall.I took the items from him, speaki
g to him briefly, shutting the door behind him."Help me put this food away sweet" Handing a
bag to Santino, I began sorting through the items for Christine, clothing, toiletries, and a 38 with
ammo. Perfect. I laid these thing out on her bed, hoping they
ould arrive back soon. Turning to Santino and placing my hand on his"There are four mortal
men coming within the hour to watch Nat and administer more sedative when she begins to
awake. I will not have these men harmed in any way. They are all endowed wit
powers equal to or greater than those of Nat, and if she tries anything, I believe she will find
herself completley overcome. Now my sweet, you may follow me!" I took his hand leading him
down the hall to my chamber, made especially for my mortal, umm, pl
ymates. Seeing the look on Santino's face was a delight! As I placed his hands in the shackles, a
moan escaped his lips, as he knew the pleasures to come!

I listened to Marius answer as I finished both my dinner and my wine. I don't remember ordering
it, but a huge slice of chocolate cake was put in front of me and my wine refilled, I think with
another kind, maybe something that goes good with dessert. How
would I know? I didn't know a damn thing about wine except that I heard white goes with
poultry and fish and red with red meat. Well, it really didn't matter, I ate in slience, enjoying the
sound of Lestat and Marius' vocies. Getting a lttle drunker with
ach sip. Before we left this place I was sure Lestat would have to carry me, I'm sure. Which
wouldn't be too bad.... I know I'd enjoy it.

The footsteps seemed to grow louder, and as I looked to my left, a creature of exquisite beauty
revealed its presence to me. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" He asked me in a clear,
yet soft voice. That voice... I knew I'd heard it somewhere before
and it suddenly struck me that this was the person who called me the night before, saying that
Nat was in trouble! My God, he was gorgeous! It took a second to shake myself back into reality,
and just as I was about to open my mouth a child appeared, gre
ting this man with a kiss. Wearily, she looked from one of us to the other, and then left the room.
The man looked back at me, obviously waiting for a response. "Lily. Lily Mayfair... Talamasca."
I said nervously. "I was looking for Nat. Well, I mean, I w
s looking for clues concerning Nat's whereabouts." I realized that a search of this place was now
out of the question, so I decided to go through a different route. "Do you know where she is?" I
asked him, trying to look somewhat innocent. "Who are you, b
the way?"

I laughed at the questions Christine spouted out, one after another, realizing for the first time
that NO I hadn't given much thought to most of these things and it occurred to me why. "My
dear", I patted her hand and smiled at her,"Every age has its evil
and its diseases. They are not new. They simply change with time and we as onlookers tend to
forget they are even there. We are never threatened by these evils and they seldom ever even
touch us. Now we DO try to go after evildoers when it comes to feedi
g but thats fairly basic. So, no, we seldom give much thought to the evils of mankind. Wouldn't
you agree Lestat?"

*Oh, Lestat - You are such a doll!* I couldn't help but think this to him. Smiling, I finally got my
wine. Feeling more at ease now that I didn't have to worry about the money. Well, I know better
then to think I could refuse an offer from Lestat! I tried
to turn the talk to other things. I had always wondered if things like pollatics would interest an
immortal. After all, if they didn't like the president, they could just move, or kill him. And did
they concern themselves over diseases like AIDS and such,
after all, if humans were wiped out by something like that they'd have nothing to feed on except
rats and other animals. And what their views on child molestation, spousal abuse, and other such
things were. I rattled all this off, already tipsy from only
alf a glass. Then I said, "Please tell me, I'm interested as to if you ever take an interest in such
things."

I laughed again. "No, chérie, I don't think that would be neccessary."
Then I looked at her, thoughtfully, snapping up a though from her, a
longing after wine, and remembered what she just had been saying about
money. *You don't have to worry about money, Christine* I sent out to her,
without taking my eye from her. *You just should have mentioned about it
before, I can be so thoughtless* I laughed silent. "After all," I continued,
speaking out loud now, "earlier I didn't even think of the fact that
you could be hungry." I kissed her cheek lightly. *I'll pay for you,
chérie, I'd love to do that*

As my plane touched down in New Orleans, I wondered if I would find what I was looking for.
I wondered if I even knew what it was I was looking for. I'd come to New Orleans because I was
looking for other immortals, and New Orleans
seems to be the vampire capitol of the world. I think perhaps others of my kind may keep me
better company than mortals have, and I hope to
find someone I can trust, someone to be my friend for eternity. Now all I have to do is find
someone.

Pandora had walked in the room and the next thing I knew I was thrown into the corner with a
cot flying through the air and slamming into my face. I licked the blood that dripped from the
wound at my lip. Stunned by this powerful witch, I watched as Pan
ora bound this woman and pumped her full of morphene. Her body lay on the cot, heaving with
anger as her long black hair fell in cascades to the floor. I walked to her side and kissing her
cheek entered her mind, **I shall return and take what is rightf
lly mine.** Pandora led me up the stairs, as if I had been a bad boy for playing with toys that
weren't mine. We stood in the middle of the kitchen looking for food for the mortals and I felt
Pandoras anger at this Mayfair witch. She was obsessed with
his bound woman, and even though she wanted to talk with me I knew she had so much more on
her mind besides the trapped morsel below. I walked up to her and grasping her hair in my
hands pulled her lips to mine. Kissing her long and hard, mentally sayin
...**let's play a bit before Izu gets here.** I picked her up in my arms and lay her on the kitchen
table. Nuzzling into her neck, I pulled each earlobe into my warm mouth and ran my tongue
over the smooth surface. I took pleasure feeling my fangs pene
rate the surface, creating mini-fonts of nectar. The blood saturated my tongue, and I felt as free
as the wind. I lay gasping in my goddesses arms, awaiting her instructions and letting her know I
would be willing to do anything she asked.

I listened now to Lestat and Marius talk about being mortal again. I wanted to laugh. "I can tell
you what it's like. It's hell is what it is. Having to eat - and sometimes not having the money for
the food, so you end up in a soup kitchen and often they
on't have enough to give you more then a cup. Then you have to bathe only sometimes the
closest thing you get to a bath is a cold, stinging rain. Of course, we mortals need sleep, but it's
hard to get more then an hour's worth when you're on the run, and
t's usually in boxes or behind a dumpster. Having rats crawl over you at night." I shuddered, oh,
how I hated the rats! "And let's not get into body functions." I took a sip of my water, wishing
there was enough money in my wallet for a glass of wine. I d
dn't hold alcohol well and I could use the fuzziness now. Try to block out the thought of the
Talamasca. "I'm sorry," I said, "I ruined your happy mood - What can I do to lighten it again?"
With that I gave Marius a kiss on the cheek, then I kissed Lestat
on the lips. "Will that help? Or should I try to find an answer to the age-old question - are
vampires ticklish?" I flashed that old grin of mine and winked to them both, popping another
bite of food in my mouth.

Neither Lily nor Louis said a word and I looked at each a little worriedly as I excused myself
from their presence. Reverently taking my things up again I went to my room, standing in the
doorway, marveling at the way that the look of it can touch my hea
t at times. Easily, as if it were not centuries ago, I found the tiny wooden door behind the painted
golden gate of my wall of the enchanted forest, opening it to find that it remained unchanged
after all of this time. The little opening, lined and cedar,
where I had kept this diary...writing in it often and then tucking it away again. I shut the little
door again with my precious doll and diary inside, watching as the opening nearly disappeared
into the paint of the mural before my very eyes.

I laughed at Lestat witticism about becoming mortal again, knowing full well that he would
never attempt anything of that nature again. It was the one instance where he had tempted fate
and nearly lost. "Ah Lestat. I do admit, sometimes I DO wonder what i
is like to be mortal. It has been so very long. Do you still recall what it felt like?"

I watched Christine eat, as I always enjoyed seeing mortals eating. It was something fascinating
over this simple act. I smiled at her eagerness, how long could it be since she had fead before? I
looked over at Marius, laughing. "I think I've already forg
tten how it was to be mortal. You see I can't remember that I've ever longed for food like that," I
smiled, putting my arm around Christine. "What would you say if I changed body with a mortal
again, and tried that? I think I'd manage to do that." I laugh
d again, looking at Marius to see any kind of reaction, knowing I would really never ever do
such a thing again, and probably Marius knew that too.

** Marius I just got your email today!**
Santino wasn't quick enough, the cot slammed into him as the syringe was ripped from my
hand.I grabbed her, suprised when she actually spit in my face, slamming the lamp into me. I felt
the blood trickle down my lip.My grip loosening a bit on her, "You bi
ch!" I yelled at Nat as she concentrated all her mental effort on us both."You aren't strong
enough for this Nat, give it up" I screamed as I grabbed her harder, burying my nails into her soft
yeilding flesh. Jesus, this one has enough strength and determ
nation for ten mortal men! I reached out locating the syringe and jabbed it into her arm, holding
her tightly as the drug took affect. She screamed at me, fighting, but it was no use, she slumped
in my arms eyes closing. "Santino, get up!" He was stunned
y the force of the cot hitting him and lay there in a daze. Reaching down I pulled him to his
feet."Shit, I'll do it myself" Grabbing Nat by the arm I drug her over to the far wall, propping her
up uncerimoniously against the dampness. A spider crawled ov
r the stone and up her leg as I put one arm them the other into the heavy metal shackles, the click
echoing as I clamped them shut. Her face was hidden by her long hair hanging down in a matted
mess of tangles.Walking slowly up the stairs, leading Santino
y the hand, I though of what to do next. She was strong, no doubt, and extremely dangerous. In
the kitchen I turned on the light and took a bottle of water from the cabinet, looking around for
any food. Then I noticed, Lestat and Christine were gone and I
ad forgotten to bring her the things she needed. Sighing, I picked up the phone, ringing Izu. After
instructing him to bring items for Christine, food and all the odds and ends that mortals need, I
took a scarf from my dresser and went back to Nat.Tying t
e scarf over her eyes, I thought possibly if she couldnt see, the less of a danger she would be. I
knew Christine was safe with Lestat, he cared for her, no harm would come to her this night.
Then a thought occured, and I smiled slyly, I stood looking at
er for the longest time. Biting the end of my finger, a small drop of blood hit the floor, and
kneeling down I put three small drops into Nat's mouth. Just enough to begin her thirst, to begin
her addiction! Leaving the bottle of water on the floor, lockin
the doors, I went up to await the arrival of Izu and to speak to Santino.
