ADDING TEXT: To add text to your image, click the "A" on the tool palette. Position your cursor over your window. Notice that the curser has changed to a plus symbol with a capital "A" next to it. Left click on the window to bring up the Add Text Window. ANTI-ALIASING: Anti-Aliasing helps eliminate the jagger edges or "staircase" effect that results from two contrasting colors that are adjacent to each other. These jagged edges or the "staircase" effect can be very obvious in text. Anti-Aliasing gradually blends the two colors over 3 pixels which gives the appearance of the two colors to having a smoother edge.
	GRADIENT FILL: The Gradient Fill option when you select the "Flood Fill" tool fills a selected area with shades of the selected colors. For example if you had white as your foreground color and Black as background color the the gradient fill will fill the area starting with white and then gradually fading into black. There are also different patterns to choose from; Rectangular, Sunburst, Radial, Pattern, and Linear. The linear is a very useful option for creating 3D buttons. See 3D Button Tutorial.
	FREEHAND: The Freehand Selection Tools is ideal for selection irregular areas that consist of different degrees of the shading of the same color or similar colors. The Freehand Tools is used by manually tracing around your selection, you can not click and drag a large area like the Magic Wand below. You can hold down either the Control or Shift Keys in conjunction with your primary mouse button to add or subtract from the selection area. NOTE: Using the Zoom Tool is usually a good idea for using the Freehand Tool to get a better
	MAGIC WAND: The Magic Wand is another tool used to select irregular areas. The Magic Wand is used to select individual areas of an image that have similiar shades of the same color. You can use the primary mouse button while holding down the Shift Key to Add to a Selected area or Hold down the Control Key while using the Primary Mouse Button to Subtract from an area just like the Freehand Tool.
	RETOUCH: The Retouch Tool is a handy painting tool. You can create an Oil Painting type artwork, check out Creating Digitoils to see what I'm talking about. You can also use this option to create creepy looking lettering, see my Creepy Text Tutorial.
Click Image then Click Resize/Resample.	RESIZE or RESAMPLE?: Resize simple and hard-edged images such as text and graphic art. Resample photos and photo-realistic images or complex images. Resizing duplicates or deletes pixels while Resampling smooths out rough spots by estimating how the "missing" pixels should appear and filling them with the appropriate color.
	FEATHERING: The feathering setting determines the sharpness of a selection's edges. The higher the setting the softer edges and the and a lower setting creates a sharper, more solid edge. If you increase the feathering, Paint Shop Pro will expand the selection's borders to include the area necessary to fade the selection's edges. NOTE: If you want to create a quick rectangle with soft edges you can try the following. If you have a white foreground and black background (any colors will work) and you select an area and use the cut command with Feathering=10 (or any whatever setting you choose) the white area will be cutout and the black background will show through with a soft edge all around the cutout area. This is a quick way to create multi-color banners.
	EYEDROPPER: The Eyedropper Tool picks up a color. Any color the you click on with the Eyedropper will make that the Foreground color. If you right-click a color with the Eyedropper it will make that the Background color. HINT: You can quickly exchange the Foreground color and the Background colors in the Active Color Palette by clicking on the Double Arrow in the lower left corner. You can also use the Eyedropper Tool to Create Transparent GIF's.
