Tarsus - The JazzExperience
Tarsus is a big band made up entirely of high school students from Clifton.  It was founded in 1993 by Dan Kopec and Jeremy Lees to fill a void that was created by the lack of a jazz ensemble at Clifton High School.  With rehearsals being held in the basement of St. Paul's RC Church since its origin, personnel has changed, but the dedication to continuing a big band tradition left behind by such greats as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson and Buddy Rich has never left the focus of the band.
Tarsus is now being led by Mike Alexander, who plays alto sax.
These have been truly exciting times for the band, which has entertained appreciative audiences throughout New Jersey.
