Following is an e-mail message that was sent to the Mustang Band website and forwarded to us on February 24, 1998.

Hello,

My name is Joseph Saporito. I am an alumnus of both the Mustang Band and Pony Express Jazz Ensemble and was moved to visit this site by the memories evoked from reading the Dolores Choteborsky rave in the Dateline Journal this week. I was surprised to learn (from this website) that CHS doesn't sponsor a jazz group and I can only imagine how much more serious the musicians have to be to arrange something like this on their own time. They should all be proud of staying true to the things that matter most to each of them. Hopefully they won't lose site of those things. I know I am not alone in wishing there were outlets such as Tarsus for adults like myself who miss the commaradarie associated with playing in the band. Maybe a Tarsus II could be put together for a bunch of out-of-practice lipless wanna-be's.

I am haunted by the fact that it has been ten years since I left Colfax Avenue. I say haunted because as President of my senior class I have been thrust into responsibilities today that I have little time for. They never told me in 1988 that I would have to deal with throwing a party for 600 people I havn't seen in ten years! But here I am trying to get this thing done. This is part of the reason I am dropping this line. I would greatly appreciate any kind of posting you can make regarding the Ten Year Reunion for the Class of 1988 that will be held at 8PM on Saturday June 27 at the Fairfield Radisson on Route 46. I am not sure how many people are visiting this site but if brings one more person to the party than I guess it was all worth the ten minutes I am spending here now. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. You can use my e-mail address (JCSaporito@aol.com) as a point person (questions, prices) for the posting. If there is anything I can do on my own to put this together please let me know. Also, put me on any kind of mailing list for Tarsus -- it would be nice to make it to a show.

Thank you for any effort you can make.

"Just wanted to say congratulations to you guys in Tarsus.  I never thought that what me and Dan had started (can't believe it already) 6 years ago would grow to something so big.   I saw the article in the Dateline.  Keep up the tradition of Tarsus, keep doing whatever it is you are doing, and I hope to be able to see you guys soon again when I am in the area."

Sincerely,

Jeremy Lees
