One day I saw you at six months

Giggling at Mommy as she took your picture.

One day I saw you at one -- chocolate cake

Smeared across your laughing mouth.

One day I saw you at two -- all spindly legs

Running through the airport to greet me.

One day I saw you at three -- on your tricycle

Riding to the park to play in the sandbox.

One day I saw you at four -- impish grin

Playing hide and seek with your friends.

One day I saw you at five -- apprehensive

On your first day of kindergarten.

Then I awoke, and on my bedroom wall -- you at six months --

Giggling -- as Mommy took that last snapshot.
