NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN FRY BREAD

2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Warm water (approx. 3/4 cup)
Shortening for frying

Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add warm warter to mixture and work into a smooth dough.
Divide dough into balls about the size of a large egg.
Roll each ball into a circle on a lightly floured surface
until about 1/4 inch thick. Cut a small hole in the center
of each circle.

Fry circles, one at a time, in 2 or 3 inches of shortening
in a deep cast iron skillet. Turning once, fry circles until
golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels. 1
