The following type of bread was eaten during Biblical times.
A typical meal would have included:

UNLEAVENED BROWN BREAD
Yield: 8 flat loaves

3 1/2 cups whol wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 lukewarm water
Additional flour for kneading
Sesame oil for brushing on bread

Combine flour and salt. Add water and mix.
Place dough on floured counter and knead til smooth
and not sticky. Cover with a large bowl directly on counter.
Let rest 2 hours. Cut into 8 pieces. form each into a ball.
Roll into circles on floured surface. (keep extras covered).
Brush with oil and bake at 500°F. til edges curl up. 1
