2 1/2 pounds lean ground
beef
1 1/2 pounds Italian sausage,
casings removed**
2 large onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans (151/2 oz. each)
red kidney beans, undrained
1 can (28 0z.) crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
In a soup pot, brown the
ground beef, sausage,
onions and garlic over high
heat for 20-25 minutes,
stirring frequently. Add
the remaining ingredients.
Mix will and bring to a
boil. Reduce the heat to
medium-low and simmer for
30 minutes, stirring
occasionally.
Makes 8-10 servings.
**Mr. Food calls for hot
Italian Sausage, but I used
sweet sausage and it was
plenty hot for us...with
just a little "bite". If
you like spicy, go with the hot.
