Chapter 1

He kissed her goodbye as she slept, then stood there for a few moments just
watching her breathe.  "I love you, baby girl." he whispered, backing out of
the room, his suitcase in hand.  As the door closed softly, she sighed in her
sleep and reached toward his side of the bed, encountering the lingering
warmth of his body.  A moment later her eyes fluttered open, and she realized
he was gone.  Instantly her eyes filled with tears, and she jumped out of the
bed, racing down the stairs with only a nightie on, hoping to catch a last
glimpse of him.  He was just pulling out of the driveway, the van full of the
rest of the guys.  "Wait!  Oh god, wait!!!" she yelled.  The van slammed to a
stop, and he leapt out, running back to her.  She ran down the stairs and
jumped into his arms, kissing him passionately.  "I love you so much!  Oh
god, I’m going to miss you!" she sobbed softly into his neck.  He sighed, his
own eyes full of tears.  "I’m gonna miss you too, sweetheart." he told her
softly.  The driver blew the horn, and he told him he’d be right there.

"I can’t stay, baby girl.  There waiting, and the plane won’t wait for
us." he said gently.  She kissed him once more, then stepped away, smiling
for him and the other guys.  "Bye angel, I hope you have a great flight. 
You’re gonna call when you get there, right?" she asked as he walked
backwards toward the van.  He managed a smile too.  "Of course, don’t I
always?  I swear, I’m gonna call you as soon as we get to Florida.  Now get
inside, it’s too cold for you to be out here like that!  I love you, baby
girl, and I’ll be back as soon as I can, I swear." he promised, then he got
in the van.  She waved until the van had disappeared from sight, tears
pouring down her face even as she smiled.  Then she turned, shivering, and
headed back into the house.  She went back up the stairs, and crawled into
bed, snuggling his pillow.  "I love you too, Joey.  I love you too." she
whispered over and over.
