Joey had been acting weird ever since the night he and Christie had broken up, and the guys were worried about him. He seemed to be okay, but he spent a lot of nights on the beach, just wandering, and he'd begun to read books about Wicca. One day the guys confronted him. "Joe, it's been four months since you and Christie broke up, and you're really worrying us. You’re on the beach til the early hours of the morning, you’re looking into witchcraft, and you’re basically acting really weird! What's the deal?" JC asked bluntly. Joey grinned sheepishly. "I'm sorry, guys. That night was so weird, I forgot you don't know the whole story. I met a lady...she was the most incredible, beautiful woman, and I can't get her out of my head. We met on the beach, and she knew I was hurting, and she offered to help me feel better. Guys, we made love, and she just disappeared when Justin showed up. I never even got her last name, I only know her name is Shannon, and she just moved here when we met. I've been trying to find her. I know she loves the beach, and I know she practices Wicca. That's all I know. I didn't mean to freak you all out." he said.
Lance sighed in relief. "A woman. Now I know you’re okay. Why didn’t you ask us to help, Joey? With five of us, we should be able to find her that much faster." he chided gently. Chris frowned. "Now wait a minute. I don’t want to sound like the old man, here, but what if she doesn't want to be found? Joe, you’re not that hard to find, even with all the unlisteds. If this woman really wants to find you, she can pretty easily." he said. Then he took a step back out of Joey's reach. "And if she made love to you on the beach right after you met, she may not be someone you want to find, Joe. She might be a hooker, or just a groupie." he said. The others turned and glared at him, but Joey just laughed. "Not a chance, Chris, and I thought of that too. If she doesn’t want to be found, that's one thing, but I know she's not a hooker or a groupie. She was a virgin, guys, or at least really inexperienced." he told them.
That brought a whole new set of questions to mind, and they asked them. Joey answered what he could, and Justin took notes. Finally he looked up. "Joe...did you use a rubber?" he asked. Joey blushed lightly. "No, I didn’t have one with me, and she didn’t ask me to." he muttered sheepishly. The rest of the guys looked at each other in alarm. "Joey...what if she’s pregnant?" Lance said softly. Joey’s eyes got wide, and a thrill of joy ran through his heart. The other guys, looking at him, saw the joy written all over his face, and knew that even though he didn’t know it, he loved this woman. "Guys, I have to find her now! If she’s pregnant...god, I'll be a dad! I need to find her, and take care of her." he said. JC sighed. "Well, then, we'd better start looking. It’s been four months, if she is pregnant, you've already missed too much." he told him. |
