"This magic moment, when your lips are touching mine, Will stay here forever, forever til the end of time..." Shannon laughed softly, then stood up, bringing him to his feet. "You should go back to your friends, Joseph. They'll be worried about you." she told him, slipping her dress on over her head. Joey watched the silky material slide over her body, remembering how his hands had done the same. "What about you, Shannon, will anyone be worried about you?" he asked quietly, donning his own clothes. She turned away and picked up her hairband. "Not anyone here. I told you, I just moved here." she said, then they both heard someone calling his name. She turned back to face him, and kissed him one last time. "Be happy, Joey." she whispered, then she turned him away to leave the circle. He stepped outside, and she chanted something softly, then bent to blow out the candles. Joey looked around to see Justin coming down the beach toward him, looking worried, and he sighed. "I’m right here, J! Come here, I want you to meet someone!" he called. Justin hurried, but by the time he got there, Shannon was gone. Only the wax on the sand, and a leather and copper bracelet remained. Joey picked it up, looking around, but seeing no one.
"Damn! Justin, I met the most incredible woman..." he began. Justin sighed in relief. "Thank god! We thought you came out to drown yourself or something. So where is she?" he asked, looking around. Joey sighed. "She left. I guess she was a little shy about meeting you. God, J, she's so beautiful, and the most generous woman I've ever known, and I didn’t even get her last name!" he said. Justin sighed too. "I’m sorry I got here too late to meet her, Joe. She just disappeared, huh? It must be the full moon, it’s magical." he said, then just stared as Joey laughed and burst into another chorus of "This Magic Moment." |
