Dealing with someone who has depression!!!
I made this page for my husband
and for others suffering from depression.
The next piece you read is a part
of a song by Shania Twain that Leslie loves.
I wanted to tell Leslie that This To Shall Pass....
When I look at the trinkets in my life
they are surround by my life with you
and we made it this far the next hundred years are a breeze.
For My Love My life My Leslie!!!!
When I first saw you, I saw love. And the first
time you touched me, I felt love.
And after all this time, you're still the one.
Looks like we made it
Look how far we have come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we would get there someday.
They said "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're together still going strong.
Shania Twain
Hello everyone I am doing this page in
hopes that it may help someone who is
depressed know that there is hope out there
and that they do not suffer alone.
My husband is 26 and is suffering
from clinical depression.
We at first did not know what was
wrong with Leslie.
He could not bring him self to
get out of bed in the morining and he could not hold a job.
He would not go out and be with any friends fact he has no friends.
Leslie would spend a great part of
his time just moping and he always seemed sad.
People thought he was lazy and would say
he was worthless because he could not care for
his family nor could he care for himself.
Leslie had no idea what was happening to
himself and he was scard he could not bring a
thought to stay to exsplain his feelings and then
if he could he did not know what it was.
Leslie let it stay in the darkness
and let what everyone was saying eat at him
and hurt him day after day.
I thought that when we had our son
Aaron that Leslie would be happy.
He was happy only the darkness prevaild so
when Anthony was born Leslie could not enjoy it.
Now that I think about it I see him struggle
with himself to show happiness that he did not
want to show or could not.
Three weeks ago my husband went to a bridge in
our town and wanted to kill himself.
Leslie would have left a three month
old son and a two year old son who adore their daddy.
I did not know that Leslie was feeling this way.
Leslie could not tell me this was going on.
He did not know how to tell me.
I see him stuggle today because the meds
are not working or they have side affects.
Leslie had enough strength to
say no this is not what I want.
He went and got help....I THANK GOD EVERYDAY for that!!!
Today we are dealing with where do we go from here...
I love my husband very
much and I see how he suffers everyday.
I am just now realizing I am not at fault.
I blamed myself so often thinking I was not a good enough wife.
Now I understand I can be here for support and to give
him love and understanding.
These are some of the things I
will try to put in this page.
I am by far not an expert on it but I know
what it is like to watch someone suffer from it.
I know what it like to wonder everyday if he
is strong enough to be with me the next day.
Here are some facts I found while surfing the net!!!
Depression does not discriminate
it could hit anyone at anytime young or old, rich or poor.
17 million people in the United States suffer
from some sort of depressive disorder.
Studies have showed that a larger percentage of
women suffer from some sort of depression then men.
They believe this is because of hormonal changes in women.
Most often times the person who is suffering
from the depression does not know that is what it is.
That is why most often times it goes untreated.
The sad fact is that people suffering from these
diorders is there is help out there
and most can live a productive life.
These are some of the signs of depression.
1.Fatigued
2.Loss or increase of appetite.
3.A sadness that does not want to go away lasting more then two weeks.
4.Constant thoughts of suicide or thoughts of death.
5.Sleping disorders.
6.Loss of interest in things that use to interst you.
7.Shutting youself off from the world no friends.
8.Happy events no longer seem happy.
9.Feelings of worthlessness all the time.
