To all Parents
"I'll lend to you a child of mine", he said
"for you to love while she lives, and mourn when she is dead,"
"it may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three,"
"But will you, till i call her back, take care of her for me?"
"She'll bring her charms to gladden you, and shall her stay be brief,"
You'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief."
"I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn."
"I've looked the wide world over, in my search for teachers true,"
"and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you."
"Now will you give her all your love, nor think the labor vain,"
"nor hate me when I come to call, to take her back again?"
I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, They will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may;
and for the happiness we have known, will ever grateful stay.
But shall the angels call her back much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand."
Someone gave me that poem in 1987 when my own daughter died of SIDS, only 2 years before i met Nykole. She became my sister, the one i never had, my best friend, the one that i didn't have to say anything to and she knew i was upset about something.. she knew me inside and out. 6 years and 12 hours from the date of my daughters death, my bestfriend Nykole was killed by a drunk driver, someone she thought was her friend..
That person took from my life the one that knew me.. she took Nykole's life.. and a week after the accident, she was spotted again in a bar, with no remorse..~anyway enough of her~
I wanted to dedicate a page to my friend Nykole H Maynard, she will always be in my heart and my life for my youngest son is named after her... Nicholas. ~soft smile~ and i have many many many memories from her, great ones, her family is now my extended family. I just wish that people would realize what they do not only to the person that is killed or injured, but to the families of those that have been taken.. the families and friends get left with the pain, with each drink that someone takes and gets behind the wheel.
As you read this there is a picture below.. not a great one for it was on her memorial flyer that was handed out, but i will be getting some better ones scanned... but this will do for now..
I know that she is with me all the time.. her and my daughter standing beside me.. and I am very lucky having two guardian angels now. ~soft smile~
If You click on my Guardian Angel's picture..my best friend Nykole, you will go to another poem I've found and put onto a page.
