10:33 PM, on the computer

Yesterday was simply a ludicrous day, it started out amazing but it ended with absolute hilarity.

It all started at about 10 AM, I was sleeping (surprise surprise) when I halfway heard my mom talking on the phone, and I overheard "He's out?? Really!! Hallelujah!!!" and I immediately knew what was going on: My friend Scotty whom I met and ministered to in the jail was out! I sprang out of bed and ran into the room (not realizing I was only clothed in a pair of boxers) and got the full story and we headed out to pick him up (dressed of course). We arrived at the County Jail and exchanged hugs, then went by my house for a change of clothes and went to Albertson's to pick up a flower for his fianceé. We called Grant (a fellow friend, jail minister and also my church's youth pastor) and told him the news and he said to meet him where Irene (Scotty's fianceé) works. We did, and decided to go to Pizza Hut for a celebratory lunch. After a long string of events that don't need to be explained (even though I explained everything else) the six of us (Grant, a friend named Ralph, Scotty, Irene, mom, and me) finally ended up eating.

As we were eating, a guy came up to Grant and handed him a rose, pulled up a chair, then took the rose back. We graciously invited him to eat with us, and the six of us talked. Grant knew this guy cause he showed up in the youth group one day while visiting, and they talked for a bit. As for me, I know the guy was saved but for some reason I couldn't stand this guy... I just didn't like him. There was something about him. Well anyway as the conversation continued I noticed that he mentioned the girlfriend that the rose was for's name was Leah and he was meeting her for lunch. I figured "okay, 100,000 people pass through Tupelo a day, there's more than one Leah." Well we finished eating, and I said bye to Grant and Ralph and the rest of us started to get out of the car as.......

Leah drove up by the door.

My first reaction: "Crap, get in the car now..."

Second reaction: "Wait a sec... *looks over*

He hid the rose behind his back and ran off to meet her.

*Quick pause for sudden feeling of naïvety*

I reeeeeeeeeally began to feel wonderful.

Well I got some encouragement from my friends, Scotty said to "not punch things, cause knuckles do break", Irene said "well it's her loss", and mom agreed. I later told another close friend who knows the guy well and he surprisingly said "Man, if she's just that flaky then you don't need her." I've forgiven Leah and her new boyfriend though, and I wish them well...

I eventually started to feel better about it, and my friend Mahala (the other Scotty's wife) dropped by the house with her son. I told her about it (as well as her and I breaking up) and she said "Oh, Lord... John that's a crock, she's dumb to have left you." Well anyway she dropped off her son as well as the key to their old apartment, so I could go in and get the baby's swing. I drove over there, put the key in the lock, and walked in and started digging through stuff trying to find it....

"Wait a second... Scotty doesn't play baseball....... and his name isn't Jason......."

Someone else had not only moved in, but I was in his home digging through his stuff. I felt very queasy at this moment, and decided then was a PERFECT time to leave. Praise the Lord he wasn't there or didn't pull up!!!

Well other things happened that were just routine, and when all was said and done I finally got home at 10, and I sat down (finally) and thought about everything that had gone on that day:

1) My day started off with me going to jail.
2) I ate lunch with the guy my ex left me for.
3) My day almost ended up back at the jail.

Needless to say... I got up, laughed, and said "Man I'm going to bed..."
