Archie "Stomp" Gordon recorded this novelty item in 1953 It's R & B inspired by the Kinsey report on sexuality in the United States that had appeared around then. It can be found in the CD box "Mercury blues 'n' rhythm story 1945-55". I'm not sure if the names are correct in the last verse (Walter Mitchell? Cable Heater?? Sure is an interesting name ;)
What's Her Whimsey, dr. Kinsey (Archie Gordon) I thought I knew 'bout Mary What makes her garden grow Why Mary is contrary Well I guess I'll never know What is her whimsey dr. Kinsey? Please explain it so I'll se Well I only read six chapters And the doggone thing is sure confusin' me! I had a gal named Mabel She used to call me her Hun But since your book came out Old Mabel always carries a gun What is her whimsey dr. Kinsey? Won't you tell me if you could Why she ain't behavin' The way your book says she should Well there was little Bo-Peep So innocent and so sweet But now that she's read the Kinsey report Bo-Peep has lost her sheep What is her whimsey dr. Kinsey? Please explain it so I'll see How could she do doggone (ha haa) Well this book is killin' me Walter Mitchell has got the news Cable Heater has got his views But they've got nothing on doctor Kinsey He's got the answer to your blues Tell you whimsey to dr. Kinsey He'll tell you what to do Well if old age has made you flimsy He'll write a brand new book for you (put that book away, pop, put that book away!)
