Nebuchadnezer's Furnace © 1998
Nebuchadnezer ruled in Babylon
And he so ordered what he wanted done:
Said "Build me an idol standin' 90 foot tall,
Solid gold, admired by all".
Buildin' that idol was the King's own plan,
That all must worship was his command;
But Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego,
Three Hebrew boys said "No, No, No!"
Enraged the King had the three lads seized,
They dared to defy what he had decreed.
He threatened their lives and he heard them say
"We got a living God who we obey".
"Stoke my furnace!" the King then roared,
"Seven times hotter than it's been before!".
When into the furnace the three were cast,
Their jailers died from the fiery blast.
Nebuchadnezer, through the furnace door,
Saw not just three, but an angel made four.
Then he called and out they stepped,
Not a hair was singed, nor they broke a sweat.
Nebuchadnezer right then decreed,
That the Hebrew children would be left be;
That living God they don't betray,
Was the onliest God could deliver that way.
