As a graduate
of Louisiana Tech University I am very proud of my alma mater. Tech
not only has outstanding academic programs, there are also nationally ranked
sports programs, such as the Lady Techsters basketball team and the powerlifting
team.
Most students
arrive at Tech planning on becoming an engineer. Half of those future engineers
become business majors (for example, moi)! Along with
engineering and business there
is also aviation, forestry, physics, biology, history, speech, mathematics,
education, pre-med and a host of other majors.
Tech is nestled
in the rolling, pine-crested hills of north Louisiana. Ruston, Louisiana
is not only the home of Tech, it is also the home of some of the
most beautiful sunsets in the world. And I must admit that I often
had the best spot to view these sunsets when I was working in the back
drive through window at McDonald's on Trenton Street.
Tech's campus
is kept beautiful year-round. Roses bloom almost all year in the quad,
and other flowers are kept in the gardens around campus. Pines and oaks
keep the students shaded while gathering around campus for the occasional
crawfish boils, outdoor class meetings, and other events that are often
held outdoors; along with the usual student recreational gatherings.
Ruston is very
supportive of Tech, with many of the residents affiliated with the school
in some manner. Professors are often members of community groups and campus
organizations. The professors often go beyond the call of duty by offering
after-hours tutoring, parties, and out-of-the-classroom socialization with
students, making the learning process easier and more comfortable.
I would recommend
Tech to anyone looking for a good university to attend. It offers
a good environment for learning and meeting new people.
