C.Norton Bodhráns

Cindy Norton has been making, playing and teaching the bodhran for the past ten years. She is a self-taught artisan who has honed her skills through trial and error and the expert advice of others, such as the great Irish bodhran maker Charlie Byrne.

C.Norton Bodhráns have a specially laminated plywood shell, which makes the drums light in weight and gives them strength. The drums are approximately 17" in diameter, and in keeping with tradition are only made with goatskin. Each drum comes with a hand turned tipper and a customized cross bar (i.e. a single bar, a crossed bar, or no cross bar.)

A special endorsement from Reilly. "Sadly, some people claim that bodhráns were traditionally made from the hide of a greyhound...I'm glad to say that C.Norton Bodhráns are only made from goatskin!"
