Family History Radio Debuts

A new multimedia Web site, the Family History Radio Web site, debuted this week.

Hosted by Steve Jensen the Web site is active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at http://www.familyhistoryradio.com .

Powered by Windows Media Player online surfers click on buttons to hear pre-programmed audio clips playing pre-recorded genealogical interviews and programs.

The Web site contains areas for tech talk, stories, society news, and tips and tricks.

Included on the Web site is a contact email address for those who would like to ask questions, tell stories of their own, pass along society news or offer tips. Currently, there are clips about the New England Historic Genealogical Society, GenTech 2002, a story about DNA and tips on getting started in genealogical research.

2nd Texas Cavalry , CSA

Michael Tope and Renee Smalley have dedicated a Web site at http://freepages.military.rootsweb.com/~yarbrou gh/ to the men who served in Company K of the 2nd Texas Calvary, CSA. This regiment was at times also known as the 2nd Texas Mounted Rifles. Most of the men in the unit were from or enlisted from counties near San Antonio.

During the Civil War the company served in South Texas against Juan Cortina, along the western settlements against the Apache and in Fredericksburg policing the anti-war German communities. Later in the war they served in Galveston and in Louisiana.

The Web site contains a history of the unit and a list of the men who served within her ranks. The webmasters ask anyone familiar with the company or any of the soldiers in the unit to contact them and give whatever historical or biographical information they may have.
