Part One: The Beginning

A crowded room. Loud music. Dense smoke. Dim lights. Claudia sat with her friends within the club and sighed. She was uninterested in this, this… social scene. What need did she have for it? She ran a pale slender hand through her raven colored hair and carefully reapplied her black lipstick. She didn't fit in with the preppy atmosphere of the nightclub; she had done it on purpose. She knew that many eyes were upon her-enticed by her. Her eyes quickly swept through the crowd… still she did not see him.

Claudia did not dress like this normally. No, tonight she felt the urge to put on a show and that was all. She was only a freshman at the small private college and already she had grown bored of the typical male student. She'd had her share of men and had them quite often, but she wanted and needed something more. She needed something exciting. She needed someone like her.

She'd never been normal, really. Her parents seemed nice enough to outsiders but had bordered on abusive behind closed doors. She'd felt like a failure and battled depression all her life. She dressed and acted like everything a "normal" college student was supposed to-but inside she was screaming for release. It could even be said that her heart was as black as her hair. She grew and she learned-she practiced magic and studied vampires, she fell in and out of love quickly as well as easily. She taught herself to be cold and uncaring and she slowly but surely isolated herself from the world. Only her beauty prevented total isolation; people simply would not let her go at times. But if Claudia could have her way, she would have disappeared into the shadows long ago.

As she looked around she saw him; he was dressed plainly but elegantly and his icy blue eyes locked upon hers at once. His blood red lips curled slightly into a smile and started towards her. He walked in a strange, seductive way; if Claudia hadn't been watching as his feet moved, she'd have sworn he was floating towards her upon air. He stopped before her and simply watched. Without a word spoken between them he held out his pale, slender hand. Staring into his impossible eyes she placed her hand into his without hesitation. Maintaining his luring half-smile, he led her out of the club and down the street. She followed him in earnest to the tiny motel at the end of the strip. When she got inside she stood wordlessly in the middle of the dark room.

Closing the door softly he approached her once again. Taking her face between him hands he bent and kissed her lips softly. She closed her eyes and opened her mouth slightly allowing him access to her. He kissed her once again-softly, passionately. His kisses traveled south, down to her neck where they remained.

"So soft," he whispered, as she felt his teeth pierce her delicate skin.
