CALL IT STORMY MONDAY (Walker) They call it stormy Moday, but Tuesday's just as bad They call it stormy Moday, but Tuesday's just as bad Wednesday's worse, and Thursday's also sad Yes the eagle flies on Friday, and Saturday I go out to play Eagle flies on Friday, and Saturday I go out to play Sunday I go to church, then I kneel down and pray Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on me Lord have mercy, my heart's in misery Crazy about my baby, yes, send her back to me

IT'S A LOW DOWN DIRTY DEAL (John L. Crainer - T-Bone Walker) It's great to be rich and a doggone shame to be poor It's great to be rich and a doggone shame to be poor It's a lowdown dirty deal when your woman don't want you no more I tried to please her but it only made her mad I tried to please her but it only made her mad She done strip me and took everything I had Now what you gonna do with a woman like that? Now what you gonna do with a woman like that? Who takes all your money yes and leaves you flat? Yes it's great to be rich and a doggone shame to be poor It's a lowdown dirty deal when your woman don't want you no more Now it was money in the morning, and money every night If I didn't have no money, she was ready to fight It's great to be rich and a doggone shame to be poor It's a lowdown dirty deal when your woman don't want you no more
Recorded for Paul and Lillian Reiner's Black & White Records in Los Angeles, somewhere between 1946 and 1948. This is from the CD "Low Down Blues" (Charly R&B)
She's The No Sleepin'est Woman (Paul Reiner) When I tiptoe to the house, high as a kite I'd rather face a tiger than to face my wife She's the no sleepin'est woman I ever did see When I hit the doorstep she knows it's me With my shoes in my hand, I'm careful too It makes no difference, it's "honey, is that you?" She's the no sleepin'est woman I ever did see When I hit the doorstep she knows it's me Well I like to play around sometime with my friend But when I go home I'm afraid to go in She thinks my head is a rubber ball It's the same old story from summer to fall She knows I'm sick, and a little tight But I gotta prepare for a all night fight She's the no sleepin'est woman I ever did see When I hit the doorstep she knows it's me [solos] Well I like to play around sometime with my friend But when I go home I'm afraid to go in She thinks my head is a rubber ball It's the same old story from summer to fall She knows I'm sick, and a little tight But I gotta prepare for a all night fight She's the no sleepin'est woman I ever did see When I hit the doorstep she knows it's me She's the no sleepin'est woman I ever did see I give her some pills and she trick poor me No sleepin'est woman that I ever did see
Recorded between 1946 and 1948 for the "Black and White" label
I've got a five card hand and I don't know how to play (2x) I need a queen like you to make my hand OK The kid drew three aces and stacked them back to back (2x) I looked at my hand and not a smile did I crack When the deal goes down I've only drawed one card (2x) And if you play poker, you know that sure is hard The kid spread his hand and began to blush The kid spread his hand and then began to blush But his face turned pale when he saw my queen high flush
