My name is Louis Van Doren, I live in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, in South Texas.

I have been a ham since 1996. My call sign is W9NKC. When I was first licensed my call was KC5UCE. I applied for the new call under the vanety call program.

W9NKC was the call sign of a Mr. John Frankle back in my home town of Warsaw, Indiana. When I was just a young kid on my paper route, I can remember going into John's shack and listening to him talk all over the world, one day he handed me the mic. and I was talking with a man in England. Well I was hooked right then and there. I just had to become a Ham. John passed away quite a few years ago, and I wanted to get his call back on the air again as a kind of rememberance to him, and to thank him for getting me interested in this fine hobby.
